The Trail Went Cold - Episode 193 - Noreen Greenley
Wednesday Sep 23, 2020
Wednesday Sep 23, 2020
September 14, 1963. Bowmanville, Ontario. 13-year old Noreen Greenley leaves her best friend’s house and heads towards the bus stop, but never returns home. Shortly thereafter, one of Noreen’s sisters is nearly struck by a car and hears a female scream from inside, and it turns out the car matches the description of a vehicle seen near the bus stop minutes earlier. Five decades later, a tipster comes forward with an allegation that his deceased father confessed to killing Noreen and buried a car containing her body, but an excavation fails to turn up any evidence. In addition to Noreen Greenley’s disappearance, this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold” will also chronicle another unsolved missing children’s case from Ontario involving the disappearance of 10-year old Marianne Schuett, who also became the victim of an apparent abduction on April 27, 1967. Special thanks to listener Dagan Cardinal for providing the opening narration for our episode.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 192 - Rodney Marks
Wednesday Sep 16, 2020
Wednesday Sep 16, 2020
May 12, 2000. The South Pole, Antarctica. While working at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, 32-year old Australian astrophysicist Rodney Marks becomes seriously ill before he dies. Rodney’s death is initially assumed to be natural causes, but when his body is transported to New Zealand months later, an autopsy reveals that he died from acute methanol poisoning. The New Zealand Police attempt to launch an investigation, but run into jurisdictional issues and since Rodney’s American-based employers prove to be uncooperative, a coronial inquest fails to reach a conclusion about how Rodney died. Was Rodney Marks’ methanol poisoning a tragic accident or was he the victim of foul play? We shall explore all the different possibilities on this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, which covers our very first mystery from Antarctica.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 191 - Martha Jean Lambert
Wednesday Sep 09, 2020
Wednesday Sep 09, 2020
November 27, 1985. St. Augustine, Florida. While attending a neighbourhood social gathering, 12-year old Martha Jean Lambert tells her mother that she will be taking a brief trip back to their mobile home, but Martha never returns and is eventually reported missing. Suspicion starts to fall upon on Martha’s 14-year old brother, David Lambert, after he gives conflicting stories about the last time he saw her. Over the course of the next 24 years, David makes two separate confessions about killing Martha and disposing of her body. Investigators find David’s second confession to be believable enough that they decide to close the case, but almost immediately after this news is made public, David recants his story. Was Martha’s brother actually responsible for her disappearance, or did something else happen to her? This week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold” covers a very controversial and divisive missing persons case which has yet to find a conclusive resolution.

November 8, 1985. Harris County, Texas. A burned-out Jaguar belonging to 52-year old Ed Baker, the millionaire chairman of a Houston-based oil investment business, is discovered in a remote field. The charred remains of what is believed to be Baker’s body are in the passenger’s seat and since he had been suffering from serious financial problems and claimed he was receiving death threats, there is suspicion that Baker was murdered by people he owed money to. However, some people suspect that Baker staged an elaborate suicide in order to ensure his family could collect on his life insurance policies. Did Ed Baker kill himself or was he the victim of foul play? Or could he have actually faked his own death and fled the country? We shall explore all the different theories on this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, which covers a very bizarre unexplained death.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 188 - Geetha Angara
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
February 8, 2005. Totowa, New Jersey. 43-year old chemist Geetha Angara shows up to work her shift at the Passaic Valley Water Commission treatment facility, but turns up missing. The following day, Geetha’s body is discovered inside one of the facility’s water tanks and her cause of death is determined to be drowning. A number of bruises on Geetha’s neck and body suggest that she got into a violent struggle before she was placed in the tank, so her case is classified as a homicide. While police investigate a number of Geetha’s co-workers, the killer is never identified. Who was responsible for murdering Geetha Angara and what was their motive? Or could her death have actually been a tragic accident caused by negligence? On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore an horrific unexplained death which has stymied the authorities for over 15 years.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 187 - Rey Rivera
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
May 16, 2006. Baltimore, Maryland. 32-year old Rey Rivera receives a phone call which compels him to race out of his house and drive away before he goes missing. Eight days later, Rey’s partially decomposed body is discovered inside a locked conference room at the Belvedere Hotel. Since there is a hole in the ceiling, police conclude that Rey jumped off the main roof of the fourteen-story building and his death was a suicide. However, Rey’s loved ones discover some odd discrepancies which make them think it would have been impossible for Rey’s body to land at that location and they suspect he was murdered. They also believe that Rey’s workplace may have been involved his death and the discovery of a cryptic typewritten note behind Rey’s home computer brings up even more unanswered questions. Did Rey Rivera take his own life or was he the victim of foul play? By popular demand, “The Trail Went Cold” is going to be exploring the featured case from the premiere episode of the new version of “Unsolved Mysteries” and it will be one of our most in-depth episodes to date.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 185 - Keith Warren
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
July 31, 1986. Silver Spring, Maryland. The body of 19-year old Keith Warren is found in a wooded area, hanging from a tree in a noose. Even though there are some unexplained discrepancies, as well as suspicious behaviour from the authorities, Keith’s death is ruled to be a suicide. Nearly six years later, Keith’s mother receives an envelope containing never-before-seen photos of the crime scene, revealing that Keith’s body had been dressed in clothing which did not belong to him. When Keith’s body is exhumed, an autopsy reveals the presence of toxic chemicals in his system, and a former acquaintance of Keith’s who may have had information about the case also turns up dead in a suspicious accident. In spite of these new developments, the authorities refuse to waver from their original suicide ruling. Did Keith Warren really take his own life, or was a massive cover-up orchestrated to cover up his death? This week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold” offers an in-depth exploration into a very controversial case.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 184 - Gary Owens & Walter Dunson
Wednesday Jul 22, 2020
Wednesday Jul 22, 2020
July 22, 1985. Nolensville, Tennessee. After failing to pick up his wife from the bus station, 79-year old George Owens and his car are discovered to be missing from his home. One week later, George’s abandoned vehicle is found on a hilltop in a rural wooded area over 100 miles away and piles of kindling are found outside and in the back seat. Eyewitnesses report having seen George in the area looking disoriented, leading to speculation that he wandered off into the woods, but an extensive search effort is unable find to him.
June 5, 1998. Cincinnati, Ohio. Gary Adams contacts the police and reports that his 98-year old father, Walter Munson, has gone missing during a shopping trip at Findlay Market, but almost none of the other witnesses from the market remember seeing Walter there that day. Even though Gary claims that his father has lived with him for the past 20 years, the official paper trail for Walter seems to end in 1980 and virtually no one else can recall having seen him since then. Investigators soon uncover evidence that Gary was committing fraud by cashing his father’s Social Security checks and while he serves time in prison for that crime, no trace of Walter is ever found. On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold’, we will be chronicling a pair of unsolved missing persons cases involving elderly victims.
If you have information about the disappearance of George Owens, please contact the Perry County Sheriffs Department at (931) 589-8803. If you have any information about the disappearance of Walter Dunson, please contact the Cincinnati Police Department at (513) 352-3542.
