The Trail Went Cold - Episode 223 - Mistie Murray
Wednesday Apr 28, 2021
Wednesday Apr 28, 2021
May 31, 1995. Goderich, Ontario. After leaving her school, 16-year old Mistie Murray fails to return home and is subsequently reported missing. Even though there are several eyewitness sightings placing Mistie at numerous locations in the weeks following her disappearance, police focus their attention on her adoptive father, Steve Murray. Over three months later, Steve is arrested for Mistie’s murder after he is accused using his boat to dump her body in Lake Huron. However, since there is virtually no evidence against Steve, he winds up being acquitted when he goes on trial. Did Steve suffer the dubious distinction of being prosecuted for a nonexistent murder? If Mistie was not a victim of foul play and ran away of her own accord, what ultimately happened to her? On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore one of the most bizarre and controversial missing persons cases in Canadian history.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 221 - Jim & Lois Arrotta
Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
September 4, 1964. Great Falls, Montana. 43-year old Jim Arrotta and his 35-year old wife, Lois Arrotta, are found stabbed to death inside a grocery store where Jim works as the manager. Since the couple’s children last saw them at their home when they went to bed the previous night, investigators theorize that Jim and Lois were lured to the store and killed during a botched robbery. Over 37 years later, Alan Reavley, a former employee who had been fired from the grocery store for theft, is charged with the murders. However, since the case against Alan is shaky and no physical evidence links him up to the crime, he winds up being acquitted at trial. Did Alan Reavley get away with the murders of Jim and Lois Arrotta, or was someone else was responsible? We will explore both sides of a very controversial murder case on this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 220 - Ralph Sigler
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
April 13, 1976. Jessup, Maryland. Ralph Sigler, a 47-year old Chief Warrant Officer with the United States Army, is found dead inside a motel room after an apparent suicide in which he electrocuted himself. For the past decade, Ralph had been working as a counterintelligence agent who provided classified information to spies from the Soviet Union, but since he had fallen under suspicion for failing several polygraph tests, the Army concludes that Ralph elected to take his own life. However, Ralph’s family discovers a number of discrepancies, including some unexplained injuries on his body, to make them suspect Ralph was tortured before someone murdered him. Was Ralph Sigler’s death an elaborate suicide or was he a victim of foul play? On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore a controversial Cold War-era mystery involving spies and espionage.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 219 - Sneha Philip
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
September 10, 2001. New York City. 31-year old Sneha Philip leaves her Lower Manhattan apartment and is last seen purchasing items at a nearby department store alongside an unidentified woman. Sneha does not return home that night and after the September 11 attacks take place the following morning, she is never heard from again. Since Sneha lived only a few blocks away from the World Trade Center, it is theorized that she may have gone there and been killed when the towers collapsed. However, since Sneha was supposedly experiencing a number of personal problems at the time, there is speculation that something else could have caused her disappearance and her whereabouts on the evening of September 10 are never determined. Even though Sneha is officially classified as a 9/11 victim in 2008, there is still no conclusive evidence to prove she was killed in the attacks and the decision remains shrouded in controversy. On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore the story of a woman who happened to go missing right before one of the most famous tragedies in American history.

Wednesday Mar 03, 2021
June 1, 1983. Louisville, Kentucky. 12-year old Ann Gotlib leaves her friend's residence in order to ride her bicycle back to her family's apartment, but she never arrives. When Ann's mother goes searching for her, she discovers Ann's abandoned bicycle outside a department store, but no trace of her can be found. 25 years later, investigators announce that new evidence seems to point towards a convicted sex offender named Gregory Oakley being responsible for Ann's disappearance. However, since Oakley is already deceased by that point, no charges can be filed and Ann's body is never found. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore an unsolved abduction from the 1980s which helped play a role in changing how missing children's investigations were performed.

The Trail Went Cold - Episode 214 - The Boys On The Track (Part 2)
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
August 23, 1987. Saline County Arkansas. 16-year old Don Henry and 17-year old Kevin Ives head into the woods to do some late-night hunting, but never return. Hours later, the two boys are seen lying on some railroad tracks before they are run over by a cargo train and the medical examiner concludes they had fallen asleep after smoking marijuana and their deaths were accidental. However, Don and Kevin’s families push for a new investigation, which uncovers evidence that they were violently attacked before their bodies were placed on the tracks. Throughout the years, a number of conspiracy theories would emerge to suggest the boys were murdered as part of a cover-up involving drug trafficking and that members of law enforcement were involved. In Part 1 of our special five-year anniversary episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explored the basic facts of this story.
